Learning to Care for Others - Baby Washing

"Any child who is self-sufficient, who can tie his shoes, dress or undress himself, reflects in his joy and sense of achievement the image of human dignity which is derived from a sense of independence." ~ Dr. Maria Montessori

Why baby washing?Baby washing is a practical life activity that allows the children to role play.  They are able to use many skills when bathing the baby - such as pouring, scrubbing, and drying.  When the children are finished, they may care for the baby by carrying it, rocking it, singing to it, or "changing the diaper".

After the Toddlers Wash the Baby...

After the children wash the baby, they often want to walk with them throughout the room.  Some like to rock the baby, and some even like to bounce them on the trampoline (eek!)!!
