Peeling Oranges in Room 1!!!

"Children are as independent as you expect them to be." ~ Dr. Maria Montessori

Helping to prepare snack for our group is a social experience in the Toddler room. It also helps build independence and self-confidence as well as coordination and fine motor skills. The children also enjoy the sensory aspects of texture and smell.

Before we begin, we wash our hands

We work together to peel and segment the oranges.

More peeling...

 We enjoy smelling the peel.

Also doing a little taste-testing.

This one is all peeled!!!!

When we are all finished, we work together to clean our work area.

With all those hands helping, we need to wash these oranges!!

Now that our oranges are prepared, we get to enjoy the fruits of our labor!!!
