Stink Bug Mania!

"A child, more than anyone else, is a spontaneous observer of nature." ~ Dr. Maria Montessori In Toddler Room 1, finding stink bugs is something like a sport. Once one is found, the kids go on the hunt looking for more. Our resident stink bug catcher is Louisa, who loves the little critters and enjoys taking them out and putting them in the bushes. Recently, we put one into a bug jar with a magnifying glass on the top so we could all get a better look at it, without having to touch it. This prompted an impromptu, "Let's draw the stink bug!" session.

Room 1 Adventures!

Enjoying Animals "When children come into contact with nature, they reveal their strength". Room 1 recently took an impromptu visit to our Science Lab in the "Big Building"! We were able to meet and engage with a parakeet, a hamster and two snakes and also got to wave at a Bearded Dragon! We look forward to our next visit. Mrs. Hill, our Science Teacher with Hitch the Parakeet! We got to learn about Coconut the hamster and pet him so gently. Mrs. Hill also brought out two corn snakes for us to see and touch. Annie is much bigger than Darwin! Some of our friends enjoyed the snakes much more than others, but we will continue to get to know them throughout the year so they don't seem so scary. On our way out we learned a little about Einstein, the Bearded Dragon, and waved at him.
